I enjoy April Fools’ Day, especially writing about some of the better brand “pranks” every year. The only downside is when a brand launches something genuinely real on April 1. Twenty years ago, Google launched its public beta of email service Gmail on April 1st, leaving some wondering if it was a prank, more so since the tech company would annually announce several fake products or new features on April Fools’ Day.

No one likes getting played, but to “bite the onion” on April 1st as a member of the media, especially stings. Suffice it to say that skepticism is heightened on the first day of April.

This year, Velveeta threw caution to the wind and announced a new product that makes “living La Dolce Velveeta” easier on April 1st. Velveeta has unveiled a limited edition semi-permanent hair dye inspired by its signature golden hue.
