Student Week: Daybright Cosmetics

Published

Mona Monahan is a student of SVA Design. Mona was challenged to create a logo and package design for Daylight, a conceptual skin care company, in her typography class.

Instead of being sucked into the cosmetic world’s overuse of sans-serif typefaces and pastel colors, Mona, a true creative, went in an entirely different direction. Inspired by the name “Daylight,” it only made sense that the gradient backdrop is reminiscent of the sun setting and rising on its daily loop. Moreover, the typeface sits at the intersection of retro and futuristic, in a way that makes this product feel like it’s never going to go out of style.

Simply put, moving this cosmetic brand’s identity away from the mainstream was insightfully forward-thinking.
