Orange You Excited About PepsiCo’s Redesign for German Soda Brand Schwip Schwap?

I don’t know much about present-day Germany. At one point, I was convinced—as were many other SNL brain-addled teens—that Germans loved David Hasselhoff, but really, that was about it.

Regardless, my very American naivete needs some schooling as I just learned about the existence of spezi, a soft drink that’s a mixture of Cola and Orange sodas, all thanks to Derek&Eric and PepsiCo Design + Innovation’s redesign of the German brand Schwip Schwap. Spezi is also a brand name for another orange-cola mashup, as is the other Coca-Cola-owned Mezzo Mix.

See what I’m saying, guys? Germany contains multitudes—multitudes of cola and orange soda medleys and legions of thirsty David Hasselhoff fans.
