Freda Gu turns the conceptual design for Aesop’s Eidesis into a quiet interpretation of the myth of Narcissus, using rippling marbled graphics to suggest the water where Narcissus encounters his own reflection. Instead of just printing that story on a box, the layered structure reveals the pattern gradually as it opens, making reflection and discovery part of the experience. It’s a departure from the decorative storytelling common in fragrance, showing how packaging can communicate an ancient myth through movement, material, and ritual rather than literal illustration.
