HUGMUN Turns Botnia Packaging Into a Canvas

"Farm-to-table" is popular jargon amongst natural food lovers, but "farm-to-face" is a new up-and-coming trend in skincare. 

Botnia Skincare is a skincare line entrenched in the belief that caring for our skin correlates to tending to our planet in the ingredients and packaging it comes artfully tucked inside. 

The eco-conscious brand turned to design studio HUGMUN to create a packaging system that beautifully represents its philosophy and approach, one centered around developing sustainable packaging solutions for organic, natural products.

While sustainability is at the core of the design, the packaging system takes an immersively artful approach. Inspired by sustainably sourced botanicals, the contemporary design connects consumers to the Earth through uplifting, almost dreamlike, watercolor scapes. By using imagery, not typography, consumers are transported to a meditative space that's both contemplative and relaxing, a perfect combination that speaks to self-care and skincare. 

Because the imagery is so detailed, colorful, and captivating, keeping the logo and typography minimal is the key to keeping the design balanced and wholesome. Additionally, the materials used in the design continue the balance. For example, the aluminum bottles and jars have yet to be painted. Instead, they maintain the natural shine of the material in its purest form. 3D designers Paulo Schinzel and Marek Degorski helped the HUGMUN team bring the aluminum story to life through their keen attention to detail in shapes and sizing.

The outboxes are where the artwork really comes to life. The vivid colors come framed by natural paper hues, curating a natural packaging system in texture and scene. The simplicity balanced with the beauty of nature makes this packaging design feel utterly whole and entirely rooted in the brand's philosophy.
