OK, relax, guys. No one is outright replacing the red wax shell that covers your beloved Babybel, all right? We need clicks just like everyone else, so sometimes you gotta’ scare up some attention. 

Anywho, now that we have the headline out of the way, last week Babybel issued a significant announcement saying it was going to make a major change to its packaging. Since 2020, Bel has packaged its cheesy wax discs in a home-compostable cellophane wrapper to preserve product quality and taste, microbiological safety, and temperature variations. Now, the company will switch to recyclable paper packaging that meets the same performance standards. By 2027, the company says that all Babybel varieties will come packaged in the new paper wrappers, all of which are sustainably sourced and FSC-certified.
