The Solution / Project Description

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation's 'THE BUSINESS CASE FOR RACIAL EQUITY' study suggests that by 2050, the U.S. stands to realize an $8 TRILLION gain in GDP by closing the racial equity gap. Advancing racial equity is a strategy for economic growth, not just a matter of social justice.

Inglewood, California's Crowns & Hops Brewing Co., created the beer "8 Trill Pils" to raise awareness around this study. Out of that beer, the 8 Trill Initiative was born. The 8 Trill Initiative provides capital and resources to Black-owned brewing companies. Through honest conversations with Allagash Brewing in Portland, Maine, the common desire for increased equity, and a shared love for beer, an idea for a collaboration beer was born. That beer is Cur- 8.

Cur-8 blends the crisp flavor of Crowns & Hops "8 Trill Pils" with caramel, vanilla, and oak notes from Allagash Curieux. Born from a mutual desire for progress, this collaboration between Crowns & Hops and Allagash is a celebration of a shared passion for brewing, innovation, and creating more opportunities for the Black community in and around the craft beer industry.

Proceeds from the sale of this beer go to the 8 Trill Initiative.
