Oscar Mayer's Latest Weiners Shoot For The Moon While Raising Money For Charity

Cryptocurrency is unique to other forms of assets and stored value in many ways. Most of the popular forms of crypto, such as Bitcoin (BTC), are decentralized, meaning that, unlike the US dollar, there is no central bank that manages or controls its value. Another difference is that many cryptocurrencies have internet fanbases, and none perhaps is more vibrant and fun than the Dogecoin community.
One of the Dogecoin community’s driving tenets is Do Only Good Everyday, a backronym developed to encourage positive and kind acts to promote the cryptocurrency. That could mean delivering food to local animal shelters, leaving large tips, water programs in Africa, or making memes. Oscar Mayer’s latest promotion taps into that sense of goodwill through crypto with “Hot Doge” wieners. The eight pack features a "much wow," very Doge-themed label with a coin depicting the familiar fluffy mascot. Many would describe Dogecoin as a hustle, but the hot doges are genuine meat tubes, and Oscar Mayer will include enough fiat currency to buy 20,000 Dogecoins.
There is only one pack of hot doge getting auctioned off on eBay, with proceeds going towards the support of Feeding America, a non-profit organization operating over 200 local food banks across the country. The initial response was moon-level high, forcing the brand to close the original auction and starting over and doubling the amount of Dogecoin from the original 10,000.
