Hot Sloth: Get Your Kicks With Some Chill

by Shawn Binder on 10/20/2020 | 4 Minute Read

Sometimes you want some chill with your kick.

Hot Sloth is a playfully designed CBD hot sauce that doesn't just keep its spice in the bottle. The hand drawn type gives this hot sauce a personal touch that makes you want to carry it around in your bag like Beyonce. The vibrant colors allows the brand to stand out in a crowded Hot Ones thirsty market and establish itself as the sauce-maker for a youthful thought albeit-stressed demographic.

On September 15, 2020, Pot d’Huile (pronounced “poe-du-wheel”)––a top California cannabis and gourmet food company recently featured on Netflix’s Cooked with Cannabis––will introduce Hot Sloth, a premium, pink-tinged, cannabis-infused hot sauce made in collaboration with Mike Bagale, former executive chef of Chicago’s three Michelin-starred Alinea and founder of Super Food Concepts, and Kat Odell, acclaimed author, and longtime food and restaurant journalist and editor.

Hot Sloth is the first product launch from Pot d’Huile’s exciting line-up of cannabis-infused cooking condiments made in collaboration with the country’s most notable chefs and culinarians. Additional infused offerings this fall will include Loud Grandma, an infused chile crisp oil from Calvin Eng, chef de cuisine from Win Son in Brooklyn.

“Pot d’Huile sells some of the most delicious single-varietal olive oils I’ve come across, so to partner with the brand was a no-brainer,” begins Bagale. “I’ve been keen to explore the cannabis market, and have long-contemplated the ideal first product. Kat and I are avid hot sauce users––we put it on everything––from breakfast tacos to salad dressings to pizza! And, knowing we wanted to create a versatile pantry staple with a twist, a spunky pink pitaya-stained hot sauce emerged, spiked with umeboshi, and fortified with miso.”

HOT SLOTH: SAY IT FIVE TIMES FAST

Layered with complexity and exotic flavors, Hot Sloth is a fruity (but not sweet!), magenta-hued hot sauce that builds momentum with each bite. The heat starts slowly and grows to offer a delicious (and colorful!) zing to a variety of foods, especially comforting dishes like grilled cheese, quesadillas, mac and cheese, fried chicken, and French fries. It also perks up any morning when used to season breakfast scrambles, breakfast burritos, and egg sandwiches.

Lightly fermented with umeboshi (Japanese pickled plum) and offering a peppery kick of habanero, white miso chimes in with a mix of funk and umami, combining to make Hot Sloth the slow-burn, superfood sauce of any epicure’s dreams. Available with CBD or THC, the cosmic condiment is loaded with dragon fruit, antioxidants, Vitamin C and cannabis from Pot d’Huile’s infused cold-pressed, single-varietal, extra virgin olive oil from small family farms in California.

CBD-INFUSED

Each 125ml bottle of CBD-infused Hot Sloth contains 300mg of full-spectrum, hemp-derived, CBD, which comes from hemp grown on licensed farms in the USA that are currently seeking their USDA organic certifications. As easy to dose with as it is to eat, 1ml of Hot Sloth equals 1.6mg of CBD, so one teaspoon has 8mg of CBD
