MAC Releases a Bold Limited Edition Diwali-Inspired Collection

Diwali is a holiday celebrated and heralded as a "celebration of light" so it was only fitting to see MAC come out with a speciality collection to help celebrate this vibrant holiday. The inaugural collection released by MAC for Diwali pays homage to the festivities while simultaneously delivering a bold abstract aesthetic that draws you in.
M·A·C (Make-up Art Cosmetics), a leading brand of global cosmetics approached Happy mcgarrybowen Design to craft the visual language for its limited-edition, exclusive Diwali lip and eye kits. For the launch of their first Diwali product line. M.A.C wanted a packaging design that reflected its brand image— bold, colourful, imaginative and edgy. The challenge, however, was to do so while staying relevant to the Indian consumer."
We created a design world for M.A.C Cosmetics that was full of premium, ethnic flair. Bold graphics of traditional Diwali elements like Indian fireworks, Diyas (earthen lamps), marigolds, etc. formed the key visual of our packaging design.
Styled with gold foil, the design language paid a festive ode to the grandeur of Diwali. This design strategy helped us unify global makeup leader M.A.C Cosmetics and the Indian festival of light and joy."
