Creating a mezcal brand is a profoundly emotional feat because it implies an enormous responsibility with one of Mexicoâs most ancient art forms. It means giving form and voice to a national treasure. For Júrame, a mezcal with more than a centuryâs worth of history, we took inspiration from early 20th century mexican art. In the early 20th century, after the storm of the mexican revolution, papel picado was becoming a popular craft, art deco buildings were popping up across the country, and the music of Maria Grever delighted listeners everywhere. It is one of her songs, Júrame, that is behind the name of this mezcal.
