For chocolate brand Toblerone, moving some of its manufacturing to Bratislava, Slovakia, a move parent company, Mondelez International, announced last summer, means that the iconic, triangle-shaped candy can no longer be called “Swiss made” or use symbols to indicate anything remotely Swiss on its packaging, requiring a tweak to its recently refreshed packaging.
Toblerone will replace the Matterhorn with a generic mountain on its packaging. Instead of being labeled “of Switzerland,” the chocolate treats will now read “Established in Switzerland.”
“The packaging redesign introduces a modernized and streamlined mountain logo that aligns with the geometric and triangular aesthetic,” a Mondelez spokesperson told the Swiss newspaper Aargauer Zeitung.
