The beauty industry has an abysmal track record when it comes to the environment. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a third of landfill waste comes from the beauty industry, and Zero Waste Week reports that, annually, the cosmetics industry produces more than 120 billion units of packaging globally, contributing to the loss of 18 million acres every year.
