Ketchup, or catsup, whichever way you spell it, is a tangy, versatile sauce made from tomatoes; genuine, grown on vines, picked tomatoes. The fact that this red sauce gets made from ingredients grown from seeds planted in the ground and tended to until they are ready to be plucked away apparently gets lost on many folks, so Heinz Brazil teamed up with advertising agency Africa to create a one-of-kind ketchup bottle.
According to Luana Sá, brand building manager for Heinz Brazil, the idea came after realizing that, yes, many of their customers didn’t know ketchup gets made with tomatoes. From there, the team decided that the best way to highlight the unique and premium tomatoesâgrown indoors from Heinz seedsâwas to give consumers the seeds themselves via a plantable label. Now, Heinz fans (we’re looking at you, Ed Sheeran) can grow the same fruit developed and improved by the ketchup maker over decades to produce the flavorful tomatoes that form the foundation of quality catsup.
