Yesterday marked a fairly significant day for the design blogs/newshounds, as Pantone announced the 2023 Color Of The Year, Viva Magenta.

Now, I can’t say just how the folks at Pantone decide which color will batter and thrash our eyeholes to death for the upcoming new year. The tried and true stock response involves Pantone paying attention to trends in the art and fashion world—that much is obvious. But if I were to shoot my shot here for just a moment, I firmly believe it has plenty to do with the recent Lovecraftian horror banger starring Nic Cage and some mutant alpacas. Because nothing says Viva Magenta like watching Color Out Of Space on an endless loop “for research.”
