The mullet is a hairstyle that features closely trimmed hair around the top with sides matted to long, free-flowing locks in the back. The mullet has had its up-and-downs over the recent decades, going from a defiant symbol of rebellion and non-conformity worn by famous people to trailer park fashion. But like many trends, the mullet went from de rigueur to declassé in a matter of years. It went from runways to local hockey rinks and dive bars, becoming the butt of late-night shows in the process.
At some point, being a mullethead became synonymous with being an out-of-touch yokel, so much so that it has come full circle and is once again a symbol of defiance and individuality, with the more fashionable among us like Zendaya adopting the hairdo.
