You might think of Canva as an app that encourages and enables the “graphic design is my passion” community of non-designers. Based on the update showcased at today’s Canva Create, the developer’s Los Angeles event, the next decade for Canva is about integrating branding design, workflows, and AI into a single platform, addressing the voluminous need for communication assets by different business departments.
That could be because some of their research found that 92% of business leaders expect employees to have some design skills, even when they are definitely in a non-design position. So, Canva decided to lend a hand to the 99% of employees without design training. They likely know a thing or two about this stuff, as they now boast over 185 million monthly active users.
For creative professionals, Canva’s first major revamp in a decade frees creative professionals to dive deep into designing the brand while easily providing a set of assets like templates and other media across the organization that they can tailor to their communication needs while preserving a unified brand identity.
