Like Halloween, Easter is full of candy. The similarities between the two holidays don’t end there, either. On both occasions, morsels are individually wrapped in bite-sized servings. Unfortunately, this sweet tradition generates a lot of single-use plastic, which is often unrecyclable due to the small, thin shapes that Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) can’t process, ending up in landfills or, worse, the environment.
This Easter season, Mondelez’s Cadbury is using new paper packaging to reduce the amount of holiday-related plastic.
Cadbury’s “Easter Favourites” pack contains individual-sized packs of Cadbury Dairy Eggs, Mini Eggs, and the brand’s famous Creme Eggs. The pack contains about 15 “goodies to hide” and comes in a paper outer bag. The bag is pleasantly designed and dominated by blues, yellow, and touches of other colors like red. A trio of eggs sits behind a small Easter basket in the center, occupied by a sachet of mini eggs shouldered by creme and dairy eggs.
