Welp, our 2024 Plastic-Free Award winner is popping up even more in the world of beauty.
Announced last month, beauty brand Wildsmith announced that they would begin transitioning their offerings into compostable packaging. As soon as this month, their Active Repair Copper Peptide Cream and Ceramide Repair Balm will now come in Vivomer, sustainable packaging supplier Shellwork’s newest material made via fermentation. The plant-based microbe-made polymer is home-compostable and can completely biodegrade in 52 weeks. Should it end up in our waterways or go to landfill, it can also break down. Vivomer is also shelf-stable and durable, performing just like its actual-plastic counterparts and offering a sustainable alternative for brands looking to tackle their single-use plastic footprint.
