Private label is an interesting corner of the grocery store to study, and Marks and Spencer is proving it with a beer range that just might out-design the independent brands. Thirst built the Continental line around vintage postage stamps, complete with perforated edges. Every country gets its own mythical mascot drawn in an intricate etched style.
The colors work like flags without copying them directly: think mustard yellow, pilsner green, cobalt blue, tomato red. Each one is instantly readable from across the aisle. The Craft range flips the script entirely, pushing brewery partners to the top of the can with juicy retro type that goes wavy for hazy pours and full Americana for the IPAs. All the premium detail was achieved with zero foils or embossing, just illustration and composition, a true case for design done well.
