So here’s a thing about me a lot of people don’t know—I worked at the first Amazon warehouse built outside of their then-home in Seattle. It was less than a mile from my folks’ house in Delaware, and for the most part, it was an easy job to score. They also gave you stock options then, and I used some of that to pay for college—but that’s another story.
What was not incredibly easy was the job itself. Mostly, it was long and tedious work, and that first Christmas in the warehouse was plenty taxing. Overtime was strongly encouraged, and I worked upwards of 60 hours a week. Eventually, my fellow Amazonians and I learned that the bathroom was a great place to hide from your floor manager.
What I didn’t have to worry about in those halcyon days of picking books was peeing into bottles or shitting into dog waste bags, something that Catfish UK host and prankster Oobah Butler became intimately familiar with while making his latest Channel 4 film, The Great Amazon Heist.
