OTHERS is Making Aromatherapy Cool Again with a Classy Gen X Soft Club Look

Published

Remember when the zen spaces of the future were supposed to look cool? This winter, nostalgic millennials and Gen Zers born at the turn of the century have been hungry for the sleek, yet laid-back urban vibes of the Y2K aesthetic nicknamed Gen X Soft Club. The look is visible in late ‘90s, pre-9/11 advertisements and photo shoots that feature products and architecture with sleek, minimal designs that weren’t afraid of ambitious shapes or pops of color.

Even though this vision of the 21st century sadly got a bit watered down by the dorks in big tech, concepts like the perfume brand OTHERS have us hopeful that the Ibiza chillout room of our dreams still lies within reach after all. This “scent and sound ritual” brand got classy packaging courtesy of London’s Two Times Elliott, featuring sleek, brightly colored boxes that land the middle ground between busy and calm, just like a great spa tucked into a bustling metropolitan street. While the bottle design keeps the perfumes simple with a classic tube shape, gorgeous neon glass makes them look something you might see in the background of a Wong Kar Wai movie. The respective scents smell not unlike how they look: woodsy forest green Mystic Zingaro is perfect for grounding, and Red Skies uses spicy white floral notes to light a creative fire.
