Amazon is king when it comes to online sales, and they’ve captured 37% of the space. Because of their success selling damn-near any tchotchke or gizmo, through vertical integration, they are now one of the biggest logistics firms in the US, shipping 2.5 billion of its own parcels annually. That’s slightly less than the 3 billion packages FedEx moves and just over half of the 4.7 billion boxes, envelopes, and other bundles that UPS delivers.

Regardless, that’s a lot of shipping boxes that that end up getting used once and thrown away.

The impact of shipping so many items hasn’t escaped the Bezos-helmed firm, and Amazon has outlined a series of pledges and goals to make its operation more sustainable, such as reaching total net-zero carbon by 2040, a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement targets. But Amazon’s sustainability efforts aren’t confined to lofty pledges, as they just released a series of instructions to repurpose their smiling boxes in fun, new ways.
