Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye is a real jack of all trades. The musician has broken records on the Billboard Hot 100, courted controversy last summer with his short-lived HBO series The Idol, and has more recently been working on something a bit more literally quotidian with a stylish limited-edition coffee.
In a sweet release right on the heels of Mother’s Day, the artist pays tribute to his mom with a line from Samra Origins, a Blue Bottle coffee named after her. This family affair takes inspiration from the Buna Tetu coffee ceremonies in what may well be the coffee capital of the world: Ethiopia. This eclectic in-house design feels simultaneously well-aligned with tradition and very modern, with funky symbology and an understated but memorable sans serif.
