Creative Director Ade Chong, self-described as “a child of many cultures,” splits her fully remote design shop between Amsterdam and London. Born to Malaysian parents, Chong’s story started in the United States but moved to Singapore, where she primarily grew up. That’s what makes this designer like no one else. According to her, “Not belonging to one particular place, but also being a part of so many cultures has a big influence on who I am.”
A barely reformed punk kid who studied design the old school way (apprenticing), she runs Studio Chong with an empathetic, consumer-first approach. Chong and her team love being nervous during the design process. They want clients to be scared, too—it’s fundamental to the Studio’s work, which outruns mediocrity time and time again.
