Hand cream has been around for centuries, but it feels like how it’s packaged has been around for as long, making the space ripe for change. Soft Services is a brand that’s created an innovative way to share its product. The formula is contained in a foil-sealed pod, which the user assembles into a reusable airless pump casing, designed with a refreshing aesthetic, meant to be left on countertops and side tables.

With increased washing and sanitizing bringing new damage to hands on top of normal wear, tear, and aging, the work on a Soft Services reparative hand treatment began in early 2020. Rather than developing yet another hydrating cream that needed to be carried along and reapplied throughout the day, we focused on the one time of day when hands aren’t in use: night. The masking treatment allows pure retinol to envelop hands as you sleep, refining skin’s tone and texture, while lactic acid gently exfoliates dead cuticle skin, and colloidal oatmeal, allantoin, and panthenol soothe.
