If you were worried about losing your design job to Artificial Intelligence (AI), the latest International Monetary Fund (IMF) report might add to your anxiety.
A recent report by the IMF, an international financial institution with a significant impact on member countries’ unemployment, economy, and even COVID-19 response, states that AI will affect nearly 40% of jobs globally. AI’s impact will be most substantial in advanced economies, where the technology will touch 60% of employment.
If any organization is in a position to predict how AI will change global employment, the IMF would undoubtedly be one of them. For many nations, the IMF is the lender of last resort. Still, those loans often come with a lot of strings attached, including significant changes to a country’s fiscal policies, which have been, at times, criticized and seen as counterproductive.
