The packaging for Israeli boulangerie Pâte and Puff by Ark Visual is all about balance. As food items, pâte and puff pastries at once contrast and compliment the other, while crafted by the same hands. Ark Visual has created a brand and packaging system rooted in this dynamic, using delicate, hand-drawn illustrations in a pointillist stippling style to portray Pâte and Puff’s products in a way that honors a craft that’s similar to that of a pastry chef.

The system feels luxurious and indulgent, thoughtfully envisioned to stack so that the woodmark matches up and continues across the boxes when stacked. Minimalist and clean, yet packed with expansiveness through the realistic illustrations on each box. The project is an exercise in control to achieve a blended sense of homey sophistication.

A New form every day.

The packaging for Pâte and Puff is a study in contrast: weight and air, structure and release.

This is how we envisioned the branding and packaging for a fine boulangerie – playing with two opposing doughs: the Pâte and the Puff.

A white bag with the word 'pâté &' printed in brown, holding an assortment of baked goods including a savory pastry on top, a dessert box with layered cake design in the middle, and a colorful pastry box at the bottom.

Pâte and Puff is about two ways of rising. Two distinct forms. One grounded and rich, the other light and free. One layered with care, the other shaped to let go. Together, they strike a quiet balance – between structure and softness, daily rhythm and subtle surprise. They move differently, yet come from the same place: the same hands that craft them every morning.

A key inspiration comes from the pastry chef’s way of working — playful, experimental, and constantly evolving. No pastry or loaf is ever exactly the same; each carries its own moment of crafted artistry.

This approach is reflected in the illustrations, all made by hand, dot by dot — consistent in language, yet marked by a warm, unmistakably human signature.

The visual identity and lush, realistic illustrations promise freshness, variety, and imagination – a brand that never stands still, but continues to evolve, reshape, and delight with every encounter. The cubic structure solution brings a playful ever changing smart play combination upon the shelves once collected all together. It’s an eye candy – sensorial and textured for pastries out of this world.
