Designed by Glasfurd & Walker, Flute & Fromage, a chic cheese and wine boutique nestled in Whistler Village, embraces a luxurious and playful identity. Drawing on the alpine environment and its unique name—referencing both champagne flutes and the local Flute Bowl peak—the branding embodies sophistication through a custom wordmark and rich, burgundy and blue tones.

Flute & Fromage, a boutique cheesemonger nestled in Whistler Village, Canada has created a wine and cheese experience in the mountain town filled with international tourists. This independent shop serves a curated selection of high-quality cheeses, seasonal antipasti, and natural wines, all presented with a focus on luxury and enjoyment. The name is a play on words – a champagne flute as a nod to wine but also a reference to the Flute Bowl and Peak on the Whistler Ski mountain.

For the brand, Glasfurd & Walker developed a custom wordmark and monogram featuring foil stamping in gloss black and gold across each touchpoint. The wordmark is an elevated, custom design that pulls from nostalgic mountain lodge typography merged with modern, sophisticated serif to make a distinct and unique mark.

Playful typography, creating circle patterns, inspired by a wheel of cheese is used on stickers, ribbons, and wax paper injects a sense of fun, aligning with the shop’s ethos that food should be an enjoyable experience.

The color palette of deep burgundy and blue draws from the rich hues of wine and the natural beauty of the mountains, reinforcing the connection between the product and its environment. This sophisticated color scheme adds to the luxurious feel of the packaging, making it perfect for gifting. The simple and iconic design language mimics classic luxury retail – iconic colour, simple logo placement and beautiful boxes to stack, wrap and gift.
