Ginger Monkey’s packaging design for Doc Brown Farm & Distillers’ Bourbon Cream Liqueur reflects a strategic approach to maintaining brand consistency while conveying a sense of luxury. Facing the challenge of generating revenue while waiting for their hero bourbons to mature, Doc Brown opted for bourbon cream liqueurs, including flavors like Butter Pecan and Peppermint Mocha. The bottle shape aligns with the core products, giving consumers a recognizable silhouette. The script, reminiscent of traditional calligraphy, appeals to a broad demographic, and tactile elements such as debossed metallic script and raised spot UV add a sensory dimension to the packaging.

Since autumn 2020, we’ve been helping our clients at Doc Brown Farm & Distillers develop their brand and launch several product lines. Based near Senoia, Georgia, the company specialises in making bourbon from heirloom Jimmy Red corn. The business challenge for whiskey start-ups is how to begin revenue streams while the first batches of your lead products take years to age in their casks. Rather than make gins and vodkas, which would immediately water down the brand’s association with premium bourbon, Doc Brown founders Paige, Amy and Daniel decided to release a line of bourbon cream liqueurs while their hero bourbons – Effie Jewel and Uncle Bogue – matured down in the rickhouse.
