Battery Point Runs Rings Around The Traditional Whisky Market, Thanks To Innovative Brand Identity And Design By Denomination

When packaging can be both powerful and highly minimalistic, the design can set the gold standard for possibilities. Designed by design studio Denomination, Battery Point's Tasmanian whisky bottle is doing just that: setting the gold standard. Choosing a turquoise blue as the primary color choice was thoughtful in that it perfectly contrasts with the golden hues of the beverage within the bottle. In addition, because this whisky is made in small batches, the tagging system creates a beautifully unique handmade effect and allows the distillers to label each batch efficiently. This is a minimal and bold design indeed.

Battery Point is located in Hobart, Tasmania, and was founded in 2018 by Lloyd and Jan Clark, who brought in head distiller Jack Lark. Jack is the son of award-winning Bill Lark, who is widely credited with kickstarting the modern Tasmanian whisky industry. Today, Tasmania is respected the world over as a producer of some of the finest whiskies available.

So many whiskies from beyond Scotland’s borders endeavor to replicate Scotch design cues – stags, distiller signatures, lochs and glens, etc. Battery Point is unapologetically modern and Tasmanian, and steps away from category conventions in a big way, allowing the brand to shine and remain true to its roots.
