Colonel Sanders and KFC Drop The Mustache For Movember

Movember is an annual campaign aimed at raising funds and awareness around men’s health issues, such as prostate and testicular cancer, as well as male suicide. Participants grow mustaches (the “mo” in Movember, naturally) and raise money in November, rocking a Selleck, Mercury, and, hell, even a Rollie Fingers. Those already sporting sweet ‘staches start by taking a razor to the face at the start of the campaign, which can be a jarring new look when facial hair is part of one’s longstanding appearance.
Of course, that didn’t stop KFC France from debuting a baby-faced Colonel for this year’s Movember. The new look, designed by agency Sid Lee Paris, is not a permanent change, just a temporary makeover done to heighten awareness of Movember. The Kentucky Colonel’s signature van dyke was back the next day.
Of course, it's frightening, and it makes the beloved Colonel just so, well, regular-looking? We're not sure what's more jarring, a shaved colonel, or that they actually have KFC in France. As part of the campaign, the yard bird king even came out with packaging and chicken buckets with the clean-shaven mascot.
Another junk food mascot is also ditching his impressive whiskers this year. Mr. Julius Pringles (of Pringle's fame) is joining in Movember, the first time the character has been seen clean-faced in his five-decade history, in a similar campaign from agency We Are Social.
Anywho, behold these whisker-less wonders and eat some more fried chicken.
