Alkemista is an all-in-one alcohol infusion vessel designed to help mixologists create and serve fresh, custom crafted spirits at home or in a bar. The product marries the timeless silhouette of the classic spirits bottle with the beautiful simplicity of fine Japanese tea infusion methods.
The Alkemista vessel is forged from lab-grade borosilicate glass. Inside, the ultra-fine stainless steel filter gently introduces the flavors and aromas of fruits, spices, herbs and botanicals into spirits—while preventing unwanted particles from entering the infusion. And the filter is easily removable—transforming the Alkemista into an elegant serving vessel. Every Alkemista ships with a recipe booklet and a set of removable labels that allow users to identify their creations.
THE PACKAGING CHALLENGES:

Alkemista is a DIY creation tool that does not ship with the alcohol or ingredients needed to create an infusion. That is up to the user to add—and the possibilities are endless. We needed our packaging to clearly communicate the product intent, without limiting the user’s imagination for the infinite variations of infusions that can be made.

Finally, we wanted to minimize packaging wherever possible for sustainability and shipping efficiency.
THE SOLUTION:
The product name and packaging design was inspired by the symbolism of medieval alchemists who helped develop modern distillation techniques. The outer packaging consists of a high-density corrugate sleeve that resembles a premium spirits bottle—instantly creating a sense of familiarity with the consumer. The crisp black and white graphics are distinguished across the line purely by the steel, copper or back components that differentiate each colorway. The back of the sleeve utilizes icons and text to demonstrate how to use the product. Inside, the product recipe booklet and label kit are cleverly nested inside the bottle to minimize the packaging size.
