Dumplings are a dish made from a scratch-based wrap filled with various ingredients like meat, cheese, vegetables, sauces, and even soup. Known by different names globally, such as wonton, gyoza, pierogi, and banku, dumplings are a nearly universal idea and are renowned as a comfort food.
Alt-meat industry veterans Eric Wu and Adam Yee wanted to bring traditional Asian-inspired, plant-based dumplings to market with a sustainable and better-for-you twist, which led them to launch the dumpling brand Sobo Foods. The Northern California firm offers three plant-based dumpling flavors, Japanese-inspired curry and potato, Chinese-inspired “pork” and chive, and Korean-based kimchi and mushroom.
