As a wanna-be chef, olive oil intrigues me. It’s a cooking staple, necessary for many dishes, but also something that comes in various grades. There’s the lower-end oil and then the high-end, refined oil that seems unapologetic in all its glory. The Vertentes is olive oil that fits in the latter category. Designed by John & Hackmann Co., the mysteriously dark bottle, golden details, and elegant typography are three elements of the packaging that create an exquisite packaging system.

The Vertentes olive oil brand, named in honor of the region of Minas Gerais where it is located, was born after a change in the naming of Agrotora, a company specializing in planting. Even having started relatively recently in the field of olive oil and planting olive trees, Azeite Vertentes has been awarded international and nationally for its quality and blends. As a start-up brand, it is still finding its place in the consumers’ preference, which makes visual communication even more important, since it is necessary to draw attention on the shelves.
