The Walter Collective Navy Gin

The Walter Collective Navy Strength Gin package design honors the military service Walter J. Bade in 1942. Not only does the packaging celebrate this unique high-proof spirit…but the spirit of that time as well. Color, typography, storytelling, and Walter, proudly smiling in uniform, are a part of the solution. The abstract linework was inspired by the early mid-century aesthetic as well as a two-ended shot glass typically used by bartenders. The label was designed to wrap the rectangular bottle like a book to capture both the Walter story and give the retailer, bar, and consumer different interesting views from all sides. The 750ml label is printed on both sides to show “pages from his life and times” on the inside–a story about Walter’s life visible through the open end of the bottle. This new Gin storytelling captures the early 1940’s in as the world went to war, and sets the stage for cocktails that are mixed with this high proof.
