Laughing Samurai Creates Out Of This World Concept For Florida Beer Co.

Cape Canaveral-based, Florida Beer Company commemorated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing by releasing Giant Leap, a well-balanced Kolsch brewed with a small amount of wheat, and delicately blended with Centennial and Cascade hops. The light, expressive ale was made with real pineapple and grapefruit, a nod to the pineapple-grapefruit drink the Apollo 11 astronauts enjoyed on the moon. Inspired by classic Americana, we paid homage to the occasion by using the texture of the can as part of the design, symbolizing the hull of a spaceship. We chose Modesto as the typeface for its classic charm and subtle expressions, adding a touch of the playful nostalgia of the early 20th century. Our designs commemorated the historic Apollo program and the era of the Space Race, and were one small step for Florida Beer Co.’s efforts to become a branded house. In this design, we applied the Florida Beer Co. badge and call signs that will be used consistently with other lines in the future.
