McDonald’s Makes Takeout Even More Convenient With TableBag

Takeout food is convenient as long as you have a plan, but if you're looking for a quick bite and prefer to eat outdoors, there's one major thing missing—a table.
In Italy, McDonald's released its TableBag, a takeout box that converts into a temporary cardboard table. The innovative design launched in late 2022 during Milan Design Week and found inspiration in the lack of outdoor table space for visitors to enjoy a meal.
The McDonald's team collaborated with Leo Burnettto create the limited-edition box to allow the over 400,000-person crowd of designers to find the space to enjoy a bite. Not only is constructing a more convenient way to eat a clever idea, but presenting it to a crowd of seasoned, hungry designers and innovative thinkers was clever.
The 100% recyclable takeout box initially has the same look as a typical one, just much taller. When unfolded onto McDonald's posts sprinkled throughout the city, the pack easily unfurls into a steady table, fit with cupholders.
McDonald's has tapped into one of the issues of Milan Design Week, an overcrowded city with long restaurant lines and waits, to create a new experience for attendees. Plus, it beats walking around with a sandwich.
