Diamond Crystal Undergoes Brand Refresh and We're Not Salty About It

Cargill-owned Diamond Crystal is best known for its coarse and Kosher salts, which it has produced since 1886. Salt is a fundamental component of flavor in nearly every dish, and Diamond Crystal has been the choice of many professionals, made in the same facilities since its founding.

While chefs, professionals, and home kitchens can count on Diamond Crystal’s consistency, the packaging recently underwent a design refresh by Enlisted Design. In addition to visually contemporizing the packs, Diamond Crystal added sustainability improvements.

The boxes now wear a crisp white background reminiscent of chef whites. Thin bands of color race around the tops and bottoms of the redesigned boxes—red for Kosher salt, blue for California sea salt, and pink for Himalayan pink salt. A large diamond graphic is on the front of the Kosher salt packaging, growing darker and denser in color towards the bottom, seemingly inspired by pouring salt. A long blue rectangle with a wavy end and the same light-to-dark color effect is on the front of the California sea salt box. Finally, a tall, narrow pink triangle is on the front of the Himalayan salt box. The wordmark’s typeface has sharp serifs and is evocative of restaurants and cookbooks.

Diamond Crystal’s boxes get made from recycled paperboard, and the salt grinders are now designed for refill.

“We know the joy of cooking and the importance of premium and precision seasoning. Chefs rely on Diamond Crystal salt for its consistent performance and taste, and we're excited to expand our portfolio to give them even more options in their recipes. Our salts are crafted using time-tested processes, helping deliver incredible results every time,” Sonya Roberts, president of Cargill's salt business, said in a press release. “Today, we also have extended retail options, with the in-demand salt now available in grocery and online to make it more accessible for chefs from amateur to professional.”
