Hormel introduced Spam in 1937, and it has since become a popular staple worldwide. The salty canned pork thing is incredibly versatile and takes well to various culinary traditions. Plus, home chefs can prepare it in multiple ways, and since itâs pre-cooked, you could even eat it straight out of the can, but really you should fry it up with some kimchi and rice.
Spam has also become one of those brands that fans enjoy representing in brand swag, and Hormel continues to provide its tinned pork disciples with new merch. Recently, they unveiled a collection in collaboration with Ewa and Jeromy Ko, the food and travel creators behind Nom Life. The collab features âdadâ hats, a crewneck, a t-shirt, and a tote bag. The design has nostalgic touches, tapping into the Spam archives for inspiration. Some items, like the crewneck and tote bag, list different Spam variations and their debut year in a style reminiscent of concert posters. On the dad hats, Spamâs history gets recognized with an âEST. 1937.â
