Gyuhan Lee Upcylces McDonald's Paper Bags, Reimagining Packaging Design
by Chloe Gordon on 01/13/2023 | 1 Minute Read
Inspired by his constant food delivery during the depths of the pandemic's lockdown, Gyuhan Lee created a series of upcycled paper lamps from McDonald's bags. The result is a series that entirely reimagines packaging as we know it. The bags, typically shortly used and then tossed in the trash, are given a new, more permanent life. Not only does the series make a nod toward consumerism and its pitfalls, but it also sits at the intersection of understanding the art of industrial manufacturing and how it overlaps with a more homemade craft aesthetic.
