Paula Scher and Art of Play Release 'Just Type' Playing Cards

Yes, Christmas is definitely over, but for the extreme procrastinator or person who just woke up from a coma who still needs to find an inspired gift, might we point you in the direction of the latest deck of cards from Art of Play, the manufacturers in the "art of cardistry?"

Designed by Pentagram partner Paula Scher (and project team Jeff Close and Kirstin Huber) and dubbed "Just Type," the two decks of cards live up to their name and are both a celebration of classic card design and a testament to how type can be altered into new and beautiful configurations.

Through both decks, the luxe packs do away with face cards entirely, with the first edition opting for an abstract and geometric set. The second deck offers a more minimalist take with hand-drawn letterforms inspired by woodblock printing. The packaging itself features every card laid out in order on the outer box.

Both sets of cards are perfect for your next poker night, though I'm probably going with the second deck if I'm genuinely gambling. Regardless, they're perfect for the degenerate gambler who loves typography.

You can purchase both decks at the Art of Play.
