Inspired by the Mid-Autumn Festival’s pokies game, BY-ENJOY DESIGN created a packaging system for moon that fuses tradition with a modern take. The gilded details, paired with a range of vibrant colors, create a modular packaging system that melds a sense of craftsmanship with a luxe aesthetic.
The concept comes from the game of pokies played at the Mid-Autumn Festival in the southern Fujian province. The inner box forms the concept of a board game by turning the size of the dice numbers to match the poster, providing a new experience of a simple traditional folk game. The design assumes the dice square as the moon in the sky, providing the conjecture that the moon is not necessarily round, and uses the contrast between the foil stamping and the paper to provoke a collision of craftsmanship and materials to hook people’s desire.
