Maniac Studio Celebrates Legacy and Mysticism of Mezcal With Ancestro Bottle Design

Published

Maniac Studio has created a brand identity for Ancestro mezcal that portrays the alcoholic beverage’s ancestral legacy through a simple and unpretentious design of clean and earthy colors and precise lines. The depiction of six rabbit heads on the label gives the design an edge of mysticism, as it associates the brand with the cultural legends of “Centzon Totochtin” linked with mezcal.

Mezcal is a Mexican distilled alcoholic beverage surrounded by rich history, culture and mysticism. It was considered a divine gift and it is currently part of the Mexico’s cultural heritage.

We created Ancestro’s brand identity, looking to portray the ancestral legacy of mezcal. Six rabbit heads become a symbol which represent the legend of the 400 rabbits or “Centzon Totochtin”, that is often associated with this drink.

The packaging is simple; a timeless design with a strong personality and a well-defined structure, printed in a single ink on natural paper. “Ancestro” is pure and clean and it is far from the pretentiousness that currently surrounds the mezcal market.
