Bored Cow Gives Bovines A Much-Needed Break

by Rudy Sanchez on 06/07/2022 | 2 Minute Read

Despite television commercials suggesting otherwise, the life of a dairy cow is pretty monotonous, idling away in pastures of plenty, chomping on grass, and then getting milked at the crack of dawn.

There also isn’t much work/life balance for bovines devoted to producing milk, but the new brand Bored Cow looks to give lady cattle a vacation.

The new milk brand comes from a partnership with non-animal whey innovators Perfect Day and food technology firm Tomorrow Farms. Bored Cow makes vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate milk but is animal-free, sugar-free, and produced with 97% fewer carbon emissions.

Bored Cow’s branding and packaging design by agency Manufactur play on the theme of cows getting some "me time" to pursue non-dairy passions casually and playfully. The black and white logo is reminiscent of Holsteins’ piebald color pattern, and the typography is chonky and fun. Dairy cows sport different outfits, a hipster guitar player on the strawberry cartons, a skater girl on the chocolate packaging, and an astronaut for vanilla. Bells also appear throughout the packaging, and nutritional information gets presented in a comics-esque fashion.

“We started Tomorrow Farms believing that there's a better way to make our favorite foods,” Tomorrow Farms CEO Ben Berman said via press release. “That's why we're so happy to be partnering with Perfect Day to bring animal-free dairy milk right to consumers in their homes. We believe the Bored Cow brand will be synonymous with this exciting new category, offering an alternative to cow's milk and plant-based milk that doesn't compromise on taste, nutrition, texture, and, most importantly, the future of our planet.”

This engaging brand makes the kinder, greener option exciting for the generations growing up into the future we are creating.”
