Magia Negra's Captivating Coffee Liquor Packaging Is Ethereal

Inspired by coffee's dark, mystical association, Grupo Tariro designed Magia Negra's packaging with a realistic representation in mind. Hence, the ethereally playful packaging system features a curvaceous type, nearly inspired by a handwritten type system. Additionally, the abstract illustrations, filled with rich colors, create an undeniably captivating design system that will intrigue consumers.

Magia Negra is a alcoholic drink made of coffee very common in northern areas of Spain like Galicia (Licor-café). We were commissioned to create something like a branding and label for this legendary and magic brew and at the same time to keep it clandestine and true, so we decided to enrole in a process that differs from create a new Adobe Illustrator file in the computer.

Our client and friend wanted to keep the traditional essence of the brew so first of all we go straight to Vigo (Spain), where he is living now. So we spend some time there getting the necessary inspiration to create something more organic and spontaneous. The design process started by making a hand-made collage that represents the magic, dark and organic character of the liqueur.
