There’s something about eating pasta that already feels like a decadent treat, but when it’s in combination with gorgeous packaging, you have a five-star meal. Old Friend designed Montelupo’s packaging featuring typography and illustrations inspired by vintage Italian signage. The result is a packaging design that feels effortlessly designed and is bound to stand out on the shelves.

Montelupo Italian restaurant and market is the newest creation from Portland restaurateur Adam Berger. Montelupo or “Mountain of the Wolf” provided the inspiration for a canine-led identity, with typography inspired by old Italian signage. In conjunction with the restaurant, Montelupo has its own line of boxed pasta, wine, beer, and coffee. We made sure that the design system was simple and flexible enough to feel recognizable across products while avoiding repetition.
