Homiah Brings Malaysian Classics To Home Pantries With Vibrant Packaging

Inspired by her grandmother Nonie, a famous Nyonya cook in Penang, Malaysia, in the 1940s, Michelle Tew founded small-batch spice kit brans Homiah to share her love of Malaysian cuisine.
Available in three classic spices mixes, Indonesian Rendang, Malaysian Red Curry, and Singaporean Laksa, each pouch contains two kits, and each kit serves two. The kits can be combined with your preferred proteins and vegetables and then simmered in broth, cream, or coconut milk. Homiah’s spice kits are easily adaptable and make for quick delicious meals.
Branding and packaging are visual feasts designed in-house with designers MayLii Koo and Zilin Yee. Dominated by yellow, each spice pack features a secondary color and floral, geometric patterns. The Homiah wordmark is fanciful and elegant, and the primary typography is a beautiful mix of sharp strokes, pointy serifs, and rounded tails. The spice trio box features a beautiful depiction of a home surrounded by flowers and a string of lights. A side panel describes each Homiah dish, accompanied by illustrations of bowls full of food rendered in a vintage style.
Homiah means “to live the good life” in the Nyonya language, and eating tasty, home-cooked meals would be considered part of good living for many. Tew’s family-inspired spice kits bring an easy and delicious option for dinner, sharing “homiah” with people everywhere.
