Is Kanye Designing The New McDonald’s Packaging?

Kayne West is a critically acclaimed and commercially successful musical artist. West, also known as Ye, has an insatiable appetite for art, with ventures into other fields like fashion, filmmaking, and architecture.

West can now add packaging design to his list of creative pursuits. The hip-hop artist and internet attention-seeking enthusiast teased a collaboration with Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa and QSR global brand McDonald’s to reimagine its food packaging.

The College Dropout artist teased the collaboration on his sparse Instagram account, offering scant details on the project. The package appears to be a square-shaped hamburger wrapped in transparent cling film, though it’s unclear if it’s a printed image on a substrate like paper. McDonald’s signature Golden Arches logo is on top of the packaging.

The same picture was also shared on Ye’s Instagram stories with a caption underneath stating, “Next week it’s the fries,” a playful nod to West’s hit song Gold Digger. The announcement marks a return to the social media platform, following a controversial and ban-worthy series of posts aimed at ex-wife Kim Kardashian, her current boyfriend and comedian Pete Davidson, and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah.

There is no word on when or where Kanye West and Naoto Fukasawa’s packaging will debut, but it’s nice to see Yeezy channeling his energy towards a creative project and not on social media drama.

Anywho, watch your back, Pearlfisher.
