Domino's Unveils 'Mind Control' Pizza Ordering App, 80s-Themed 'Stranger Things' Box

Promotional tie-ins for the hit Netflix show Stranger Things are in full swing now, and pizza chain Domino’s is the latest brand to unveil its collaboration with the streamer. Domino’s app brings the Hawkins National Lab to fans, giving customers the ability to order pizza via “mind control” and retro, 80s-inspired packaging.

Domino’s app takes users through an immersive tour of the Hawkins Research Lab. Users can find easter eggs and use “telekinesis” to move objects around and order their favorite pizza. It’s not really mind control, of course, but instead, it’s clever coding that uses smartphone technology with facial recognition and eye-tracking. App users will need a Domino’s account and a saved favorite order to order a pizza.

Additionally, Domino’s is rolling out limited-time retro packaging featuring a design that harkens back to the 80s of Stranger Things. The box lid uses the Domino’s 80s logo and even shouts out its former mascot, the Noid. The new-old box also contains a variety of nods to Stranger Things, with references to the Starcourt Mall, Hawking High School Tigers, the Upside Down, and a d20 die.

“Is mind ordering real? At Domino's, it absolutely is,” said Kate Trumbull, Domino's senior vice president of brand and product innovation, via press release. “Domino's customers and Stranger Things fans can now channel their inner Eleven by using telekinetic powers to order pizza with their mind.”

Domino’s mind control app is available now for download from the App Store and Google Play. Boxes are available while supplies last for medium and large pizza orders, excluding pan pizzas.
